Mihingo Lodge is a peaceful and secluded retreat located on a ‘Kopje’ (rocky outcrop), on wooden platforms and stilts to the east of Lake Mburo National Park, ensuring great views of the valley below with its lake and tranquil forests. Mihingo Lodge has warm and friendly staff that are willing to help guests at all times therefore they can be of great help in choosing activities that can be done nearby lake Mburo National Park for example enjoying Game drives, boat trips and nature walks. However you can choose to play a game of tennis on the clay court or go horseback riding before spending a quiet afternoon around the swimming pool or watching game from the hide positioned next to the nearby waterhole.
Mihingo Lodge is also a blessing to the locals through supporting the local community by training and employing local people. The lodge also feels strongly about conservation, and therefore buildings are constructed in such a way as to ensure harmony in the environment.
Mihingo Lodge consists of 10 comfortable tents under thatch. All rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated with en suite bathrooms. Those built on wooden platforms have a lake view while others are in a forest. You will not know that you have neighbors. There is a fabulous swimming pool, dining in style with food to write home about, simply class and luxury in the wilderness. The lodge has a beautiful and refreshing swimming pool built into the surrounding granite rocks, as well as a clay tennis court if you fancy a quick game.
Directions to Mihingo Lodge Coming from Kampala
Road through Lake Mburo National Park: Less than 1 km after Akageti (16 km after Lyantonde, about 90 km after Masaka and 220 km from Kampala center) turn left near the blue milk factory towards Nshara Gate, Lake Mburo National Park, and the first gate when coming from Kampala. The gate is 9 km from the main road. 5 km after Nshara gate turn sharp left on to Ruroko Track. Follow this track and then follow the signs to Mihingo Lodge. After 6 km you will enter open grasslands in a valley, ahead of you and slightly to the right is Mihingo Lodge situated on top of a rock formation. The total distance from Kampala is 242 km and the drive takes about 4 hours driving time.
