Day 1: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
Our company driver guide will pick you and drive you to Lake Mburo National park. The journey covers a distance 238km and takes around 6hour from Kampala. Stopover at the equator for taking photos and buying crafts you may want to have as you tour. Lunch in Masaka town at Topic Inn/Vitamin Bar/Café Frikadellen.
Proceed to the park located about 30km east of Mbarara town. Check in at the lodge and in the evening go for an evening game drive; expect to see zebras, hippos, bushbucks, hedgehogs, African buffalo, common eland, impala among others. Dinner and overnight stay Mihingo lodge/Mburo Safari lodge/Kijuura lodge.
Day 2: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After your morning breakfast, start the journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Have a stopover in Mbarara town for a tour around the city; visit Igongo cultural center to know the traditions of the people of Ankole and the history of long horned cattle. Proceed via Bushenyi to Kasese where the park is located. Check in and have lunch at the lodge.
In the afternoon, go for a guided game drive through the grassy Kasenyi plains; expect to see lions, elephants, buffalos, antelops, kobs, topi, bushbuck to name but a few. Dinner and overnight stay Mweya safari lodge/Forest Hog Safari lodge/Tembo Safari lodge.
Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking and Boat cruise
Have your morning breakfast, and then drive to Kyambura gorge where you will have a primates’ walk, and the tracking of chimpanzees. Expect to see Black-and-White Colobus Monkeys, Olive Baboons, Red-tailed Monkeys, Blue Monkeys and Grey-cheeked Mangabeys in the forest. Turn back at the lodge and enjoy your lunch.
Afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga channel where you will see schools of hippos swimming in the water. This channel links two magnificent lakes that is, Lake Edward and Lake George and is indeed a medley of wildlife like buffalos, waterbucks, strange statunga antelops and several birds like African fish eagle, kingfisher. The vegetation aligning this channel is composed of mangrove swamps, papyrus swamp and water weeds where crocodiles hide waiting for their daily meal. Dinner and overnight stay Mweya safari lodge/Forest Hog Safari lodge/Tembo Safari lodge.
Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Early morning breakfast and head to Ishasha. This is the most remote area in the park but never the less, it is famous for tree climbing lions. Other mammals also inhabit the savannah grasslands and they include buffalos, elephants to name but a few. The swamp in this section is endowed with numerous bird species that include the rare shoebill stock, collared pratincole, palm-nut vuture, Pel’s fishing owl among others. Have your packed lunch.
Proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in Kisoro district. It’s a journey of about 4-5 hours from this southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. On arrival in Kisoro town you will proceed to Rushaga for the Batwa trail experience. The Batwa pygmies are believed to have been the first inhabitants of Bwindi forest. And they have such a rich cultural background that is quite amazing. Dinner and overnight stay Gorilla Mist Camp/Silver back lodge/Buhoma Lodge Bwindi.
Day 5: Gorilla tracking
After your morning breakfast, head to Nshongi camp the home for gorilla tracking in Rushaga. You will be briefed before you embark on the adventurous Gorilla trekking experience. Lunch will be a traditional meal experience. You will then have community walk or choose to relax at your accommodation facility. Dinner and overnight stay Gorilla Mist Camp/Silver back lodge/Buhoma Lodge Bwindi.
Day 6: Depart to Kampala
Enjoy your morning breakfast and then embark on the journey back to Kampala through Kabale district. Drive through the winding roads and behold the beautiful view of rolling hills as you travel through. A stopover in Mbarara for lunch at Café Havana/Agip motel/Shaheen restaurant. Proceed to Kampala or Entebbe Airport for your flight.
