3 DAYS RHINO AND CHIMPANZEE TOUR
Rhinoceroses are large, herbivorous mammals identified by their characteristic horned snouts. The word “rhinoceros” comes from the Greek “rhino” (nose) and “ceros” (horn). There are five species and 11 subspecies of rhino; some have two horns, while others have one. Two species of Rhinos once roamed the savannahs and woodlands of Uganda.

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport
Upon the arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by the Prime representatives. You will then drive heading northwards via Bombo road to Nakasongola district which is approximately 115km which takes around 3hours from Kampala, proceed to the near Nakitoma village at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to see the white rhinos. Check in at the lodge, have lunch and relax.
In the afternoon, go for Rhino trekking. These are endemic species and they are also endangered, so the sanctuary conserves them to avoid extinction. Dinner and overnight stay Kabalega Resort/Amuka safari lodge/Ziwa Rhino lodge.
Day 2: Transfer to Budongo forest
Have an early morning breakfast at 7:00ma. Head to Masindi town which is about 52km taking 45minutes driving from Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Enter Budongo Central Forest Reserve at Kichumbayobo gate. Check in at the lodge.
Go for a birding excursion on the Royal Mile that extends from Nyabyeya Forestry College to the research station. Expect to see several bird species like Batis ituriensis, Smithornis rufolateralis, Sylvietta denti, Lxonotus guttatus among others. Also look out for primates like Black& white colobus monkey, Olive baboons, Red tailed monkeys, Blue monkey, Grey cheeked Mangabeys. Have lunch at the lodge.
In the afternoon, go watch forest inhabitants licking salt by the forest glades. Head for chimpanzee habituation experience where you will spend about 2hours with man’s ancestors, the chimpanzees. This Forest Reserve is home to over 600 chimpanzees living in families containing about 80 individuals each. Watch these great apes go about their routine activities which include feeding, bonding among others. Dinner and overnight stay Budongo Eco Lodge/Masindi hotel/Saltek Forest Cottages.
Day 3: Depart to Kampala
Take your morning breakfast at 8:00am. Drive Murchison Falls and have a boat cruise at the bottom of the falls where you will be amazed by the beautiful view of the Nile waters forcing their way through a narrow gorge and falling to a depth of about 40 meters and many aquatic animals especially the Hippos swimming in the waters and others along the River banks. This striking view can’t be missed. Check out at the lodge.
Head for Hoima town where we will have at New court view restaurant/Nguse River camp/Happy Hours restaurant before proceeding to Kampala. You will be dropped at choice location in Kampala town or at the Airport for an evening flight.
