3 DAYS MGAHINGA HIKE
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is located in the South western Region of Uganda in Kisoro district which is approximately 335km and around 8 to 9hours driving from Kampala. It is the smallest national park in Uganda and covers the Northern slopes of the 3 Northern Virunga volcanoes. It is also a home of many wildlife species.

Day 1: Transfer to Mgahinga National Park.
On your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by representatives from Prime Tours Uganda. Transfer to Kampala to relax and refresh before you embark on the 8 hour journey to Kisoro after which you travel 14km to Mgahinga National Park. Stopover in Mbarara for lunch at Café Havana/Food mart/Shaheen restaurant.
On arrival you are surely exhausted. Check in at the lodge and take a little rest. Spare time to go for a forest walk through Mgahinga forest and enjoy the fresh feeling of a natural forest. The sweet melodies of birds up in the trees, the quiet and cool environment gives you a fresh feeling. A forest walk is the best walk to explore and uncover all the hidden treasures of this small park. Also, walking is an opportunity to spot some animals and birds at a close range. Day 2: Hiking Mount Mgahinga
Take your early morning breakfast. Start off the volcano hike at Mount Gahinga. You will be escorted by a guide and hired porters to help carry your heavy luggage. As you hike you are likely to encounter some families of the endangered mountain gorillas. In addition to mountain gorillas are golden monkeys, baboons, Vervet, colobus monkeys, forest hogs among others. Have your packed lunch and then continue with the hiking.
You will also spot several birds like the Ruwenzori Turaco, grey crowned cranes, Ruwenzori double collared sun bird, double toothed barbet to name but a few. After descent you shall have dinner and overnight stay Mount Gahinga lodge/Travelers Rest Hotel Migano hotel
Day 3: Batwa experience and Departure.
After your morning breakfast, you shall spend some hours with Batwa pygmies for a memorable cultural performance. In this experience, Batwa pygmies guide you into Mgahinga forest to learn and practice their traditional forest activities such as collecting honey, picking medicinal herbs, hunting, picking fruits and offering sacrifice in caves. Traditional songs and dances are performed which give you an extensive understanding of Batwa.
After the Batwa experience, check out at the lodge and then embark on journey to Kampala with a lunch stopover in Mbarara town at Café Havana/Food mart/Shaheen restaurant. You will be dropped at the location of your choice or at Entebbe Airport for an evening flight.
